Dr. Sharon Brown
has been a professional motivator and educator, in a large urban school district, for over 20 years. She believes her work is more than a career; it is a calling or assignment.
A Purpose Driven Life
Living a purpose driven life takes work, and Dr. Sharon Brown has dedicated her life to educating and encouraging herself and others on strategies to fulfill this mantra.
Sharon is a devout Christian and committed to her family, friends and is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., where she is dedicated to public service.
Sharon’s quest to purpose began during her childhood when she claimed her success and desire to achieve. It’s a spirit that proved useful as she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology; Master of Science in Counselor Education; Master of Science and Doctorate of Education in Educational Administration. Sharon also holds New York State Permanent School Counselor and School District Administrator as well as Life Coaching certificates.
As a former school counselor, assistant principal, school principal and currently a school district administrator, she has worked to:
- help students set goals, make positive contributions in their community and explore their life’s purpose
- support the teaching and administrative staff in discovering their own hidden potential and reaching their goals
- ensure highly effective supervision and evaluation of 50+ staff
- showcase district wide Best Practices to support the teaching and learning for a school district serving over 59 schools and 34,000 students
- provide leadership coaching to new school principals, inclusive of executing their goals
While Sharon has experienced several successes and assisted others in doing the same, she also encountered obstacles …
Combating and Embracing
Sharon regrets those times when she decided to address her challenges and issues without requesting the support of others. She realized that her private problem solving was hindering progress. That’s when she held herself accountable and decided to combat and embrace. Sharon began to live a more transparent life and received the guidance and support she needed and deserved.
Sharon felt that for years she had been “pregnant” with dreams that were placed on the back burner. She knew that it was time to “birth” those dreams and take a leap …
For example, Sharon vividly recalls when she established a deadline to complete her dissertation, which coincidentally was the same time she felt called to begin a bible study. She found herself trying to bargain with God to delay the start date of bible study. Despite her hesitation, she pushed pass excuses and self-doubt, answered the call and began a bible study with a dynamic group of women. The bible study completed its third year, and two years ago she completed her dissertation, successfully defended it and is now proudly ̶ “Dr. Sharon Brown!”
Finding a Sense of Adventure
Sharon continues to challenge herself in personally uncharted territory. While vacationing with her husband in Cancun, she decided to be more adventurous. For the first time in her life Sharon zip-lined, explored a cave, and rode an ATV through the jungles of Mexico. The adventures did not stop there … Sharon participated in two 5K races and “birthed” Rooted to Thrive, a life coaching business … all in the same year!
Sharon continues to do the work to enhance her own path in life. It is her mission to help others do the same and looks forward to the opportunity to help your dreams take ROOT and THRIVE!
